Abstract:
A software product line is a set of applications that share similar features related to their functionality. This results in efforts to improve the productivity of the development process through the definition of reusable components in an organized manner, resolving around the common architecture of the applications. When using a model-driven approach reusability is attained at a higher level of abstraction and not at the level of software components that are normally written in some specific programming language on a given platform. We present a concrete example called Hiles2 project that aims at developing a framework to construct software product lines for embedded systems. We have developed tools that capable of generating the entirety of the code in hardware language for embedded systems, starting from structural and behavioral models.
