Mauricio Nivaldo Andrés Monsalve Moreno Hi, my name is Mauricio Monsalve, and I am a graduate student. I already graduated from ''Ingeniería Civil en Computación'' at Universidad de Chile, a solid professional study program focused on Computer Science, Information Science, Software Engineering, and Computing. Additionaly, I almost finished ''Ingeniería Civil Industrial'', a study program focused on Business, Operations Research, Management, and Economics (including finance and valuation). Brief Curriculum Vitae: Mauricio Monsalve is a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer and Software Engineer (professional degree), and Master of Science (candidate) in Computer Science. He is an experienced game developer, and his core strengths include algorithms, optimization, and simulation.

Research interests

• Nonlinear Systems, complexity and emergence: Uff! I think this is by far the most "romantic" research area of many.
• Network Theory: I want to support network theory, devising more practical applications. I want to develop new algorithms for it, for knowledge discovery and optimization related objectives.
• Operations Research: I am deeply interested in this field, as it is the mixture of algorithms, optimization, modeling and simulation.
• Modeling: I am really interested in modeling real world phenomena using different techniques: differential equations, simulation, markov chains, belief networks, data modeling, etc. I would also like to create new modeling techniques.
• Algorithms: I have interest in designing and analyzing algorithms using all sort of techniques. I am not restricted to determinist/random, exact/approximation algorithms.
• Optimization: I am particularly interested in mathematical programming techniques and the algorithms for their optimization. I am also interested in the specification of objectives and restrictions for qualitative and hard to define problems.
• Knowledge: I am interested in knowledge discovery, machine learning, hyphothesis testing, bounded rationality, even episthemology.
• Simulation: I would like to use agent simulation in human and life sciences.
• Software economics: I am mostly interested in the software business and valuation. I am also interested in measuring the effect of IT on economic development.
• E-Government: Public administrations lack systematic e-government design and development strategies. Modeling and valuation criteria is needed.
• Development through Technology: How can we Chileans exploit IT to foster societal and technological development?
• Education: I want to find ways of boosting children development through computers and improve professional education as well.
